Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. Home to over 18 habituated mountain gorilla families, these two parks offer a unique opportunity to observe these majestic creatures up close.
1. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park:
Bwindi is renowned for its dense, lush forest and diverse wildlife. Home to over 18 habituated mountain gorilla families, this park offer a unique opportunity to observe these majestic creatures up close.
There are four habituated gorilla sectors – Buhoma, Ruhija, Nkuringo, and Rushaga, each trail head as its own characteristics, families and level of difficulty.
2. Mgahinga Gorilla National Park:
Located in the Virunga Mountains, Mgahinga is part of the larger Virunga Conservation Area, sharing borders with Rwanda's Volcanoes National Park and the Democratic Republic of Congo's Virunga National Park. There is one Gorilla habituated family that is very famous for being in both Uganda and Rwanda with it’s preferred home in Uganda now for the past 8 years

Uganda offers two unique gorilla experiences: Gorilla Trekking and Gorilla Habituation.
1- Gorilla trekking (1 hour)
Spend a magical hour with the a gorilla family, this activity starts early morning at 07:00 am with a briefing at the park offices, you'll be divided into small groups of eight and assigned a gorilla family to track, accompanied by an expert park guide, an armed ranger and sometimes some porters and trackers
As you venture into the jungle, remember to bring essential items like your passport, waterproof hiking boots, light rain gear, and appropriate clothing to protect yourself from the elements and stinging nettles. Don't forget gloves, a walking stick, and a waterproof backpack to carry snacks, water, and camera gear.
Once you locate the gorillas, spend an unforgettable hour observing these incredible creatures up close, witnessing their daily behaviors like feeding, playing, and caring for their young

2 - Gorilla Habituation (4 hours)
If you wish to spend a longer time with the Gorillas we encourage you to book the Gorilla Habituation Experience in Rushaga sector, The Gorilla Habituation Experience offers a unique, 4-hour immersion with mountain gorillas in their natural habitat, led by expert guides and trackers. This exclusive adventure allows for up-close encounters and contributes to conservation efforts, making it an unforgettable experience.
The gorilla habituation experience is limited to a small group of 4 participants, ensuring an exclusive and personalized encounter with these incredible creatures.

• How much does a gorilla permit cost?
A gorilla permit in Uganda costs $800. The permit includes the park entrance fee, ranger park money, and other services in the national park.
• How many people can visit a group of gorillas in a day?
A maximum of eight people can visit a group of habituated mountain gorillas in a day.
• Age Limit for Gorilla Tracking in Uganda
Yes, there is a minimum age requirement for gorilla tracking in Uganda. To participate in a gorilla trek, you must be at least 15 years old.
• Exceptions and Waivers
While 15 is the minimum age, the Uganda Wildlife Authority may consider exceptions for children close to this age. However, parents or guardians of children under 15 must sign a waiver and release of liability agreement before participating in the gorilla trek.
• Can anyone track Gorillas?
Gorilla trekking requires a fair level of fitness. It involves hiking on slippery trails, through thick vegetation, at a high altitude of 1000+ sometimes for up to 4 hours.
• What should I do before trekking gorillas?

• Is gorilla trekking safe?
Gorilla trekking is considered safe when conducted with experienced guides and within designated protected areas.
• When is the best time to go gorilla trekking?
